Pricing Guide

What Does a Bespoke Evening Gown Cost in Lagos?

Bespoke pricing can feel opaque from the outside — quotes that vary wildly designer to designer, with little explanation of why. Here's an honest breakdown of what actually drives the cost.

What You're Actually Paying For

A bespoke gown's price isn't one number — it's the sum of a few distinct costs stacked together: the base construction (pattern-making, cutting, sewing to your measurements), the fabric itself, and any embellishment or hand-work like beading or embroidery. Understanding each piece separately makes it much easier to compare quotes from different designers, or to know where you can adjust to fit a budget.

Base Construction Pricing

This covers the actual craftsmanship — pattern-drafting to your exact measurements, cutting, and construction. It varies by garment complexity more than almost anything else:

GarmentTypical base price
Blouse / top₦22,000+
Skirt₦19,000+
Trousers₦24,000+
Dress₦35,000+
Co-ord set₦65,000+
Evening gown₦85,000+

Evening gowns sit at the top because they typically involve more fabric, more structural tailoring (boning, lining, internal support), and more finishing time than a simpler daywear piece.

Fabric Is Where Quotes Diverge Most

This is usually the biggest source of price variation between designers, because fabric cost varies enormously by type — and some designers absorb more of that cost into a flat quote than others, which is part of why "bespoke gown" prices can range so widely with no clear explanation.

  • Cotton — the most accessible fabric premium, adding ₦2,000
  • Linen — breathable and increasingly popular for daywear pieces, around ₦3,000
  • Ankara print — adds roughly ₦4,000, price driven by print quality and origin
  • Wool blend — for structured tailoring, around ₦7,000
  • Silk blend — a common evening-gown choice, typically ₦8,000+
  • Aso-oke — the highest premium, often ₦12,000+, reflecting the hand-loom process (see our full aso-oke guide)

Rush Delivery Changes the Math

Standard bespoke turnaround is 10–14 business days. If your event is closer than that, rush delivery (5–7 business days) is available — but it costs more, typically an additional 40% on top of your garment and fabric total, since it means prioritising your piece ahead of the standard queue. Building in a two-week buffer before your event, where possible, is the simplest way to avoid this cost entirely.

Ready-to-Wear vs. Bespoke: The Real Trade-off

Our ready-to-wear evening pieces — like the hand-embellished gowns in our current edit — are priced higher up front than a base bespoke quote, because the embellishment work (in the case of our showpiece gown, over 800 hand-placed beads) is already built into the price of a finished piece. Bespoke starts lower because you're pricing the base construction and fabric separately, then adding embellishment as you choose it. Neither is "cheaper" outright — it depends on how much customisation and hand-work you actually want.
